What a surprise! A Cloverfield sequel! (Sarcasm is hard to write)
Way to go, Variety, confirming that there’s most likely going to be a Cloverfield sequel. Who could have possibly guessed that? According to the Wonder Sleuth, Matt Reeves (the guy who directed the people directing the movie via their handcams) is working on a deal with Paramount to get the Cloverfield sequel underway. No word on what it’s about, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a movie from the point of view of someone who knew what the hell was going on.
What I’m more interested in is how they’re going to pretentsiously market this one on the Internet. They’ve already set up fake websites and companies, fake news report videos, and fake Myspace accounts. Is there anything left they can do? My money’s on a series of “leaked internal reports” happening to find their way onto a conspiracy blog and Facebook accounts.
