Val Kilmer replaces Will Arnett as voice of K.I.T.T. in Knight Rider, promptly eats him
Not technically movie news per say, but this is just so absurd I had to mention it. As some people may know, I’ve been looking forward to the remake of the ol’ Knight Rider show — especially with my man GOB on board as the voice of KITT. Sadly, that’s no more, as Val Kilmer has swooped in from wherever he’s been eating these last few years and snatched the role from Will.
Will had already completely recorded the voiceovers for the first several episodes of the show. So what gives? Was he bad, or did Val Kilmer offer to work for free in a desperate attempt to become relevent again? Neither of the above, oddly enough. The reason Will got axed as the voice of KITT is because KITT is now a Ford Mustang, and in the past Arnett lent his voice to GM commercials.
“I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new ‘Knight Rider’ movie,” Arnett said to Variety. “However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project.”
So there you have it. Will Arnett lost his role as KITT because of the usual corporate bullshit.
(But seriously, what happened to Kilmer? He looks like he celebrated getting the gig by eating Will Arnett.)

Does anyone really think this movie project will turn into a series? I’m hopeful, but not optimistic, that this movie will be decent. So far the only thing that I like is the car.
