James Bond filming amidst gang wars and flying bullets

In an oddly poetic cosmic move, the crew and stars filming the latest 007 movie, Quantum of Solace, have been caught up in Panama’s ever-growing gang war. Originally coming into the hostile area, the shoot’s guards and local police were given permission to shoot anyone who appeared to be threatening the crew or stars of the Bond thriller. After taking down one man (who later was learned to be a union member), the fragile truce between gang and film was upset.

Said one unidentified crew member on the set, “It’s a war zone out there. There are literally hundreds of masked people taking to the streets. We’re having to film between protests and riots. It’s so dangerous. The police warned the city’s gangs to stay away from the film set while crew were making the movie.”

A representative of EON Productions, which makes the Bond films, insisted that the crew were being well protected and said plans were afoot to get the filming back on track.

He said: “We hope that filming should be able to go ahead as normal from now on. None of the cast have been harmed.”

In the meantime, the insurers of the Bond film are attempting to get the director and producer to change their mind about the whole “setting” and “story” of the movie. Rather than Panama City, for example, they’d probably prefer the new James Bond movie to take place in Green Bay. At least there the gang wars just involve insults about Brett Favre.

Then again, this entire story is being reported by The Daily Star, so it’s very likely that the shooting is going perfectly fine, and the gangs of Panama City have banded together whilst singing showtunes in order to help Sony finalize the latest in their long line of blockbusters.
