Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool in new Wolverine movie

Variety has apparently confirmed the longstanding rumor that Ryan Reynolds will portray the Merc with the Mouth, Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, in the upcoming Wolverine: Origins flick. Deadpool, a healer much like Wolverine, is easily my favorite character in any Marvel or DC comics. Whether it’s his rampant crossdressing to be part of the X-Men, or the fact that he never respects the fourth wall, he rules.

In the Wolverine movie, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if Reynolds’ Deadpool is more of an origins role as well, showcasing Wade Wilson as he is experimented on in the Weapon X facility; maybe show him going crazy at one point, giving a hint of what’s to come, then destroying it. Marvel still wants to do their own Deadpool movie (with Reynolds as well) so look for Wolverine to serve as more of an intro to the character, especially since Marvel won’t be in charge of the project and would never give up one of their more beloved characters.
