Toy Story 3 plot revealed — Woody and co. in a daycare
The Wall Street Journal has some information about the plot of the upcoming sure-to-be-a-smash-hit Toy Story 3. According to the article (which is about Disney licensing their products for videogames, and something I oddly enough was planning to use on GamerNode):
“In Pixar’s coming movie “Toy Story 3,” Woody the cowboy and his toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college.”
As movie fanatics might remember, the original plot for Toy Story 3 (when Disney was going to make it without Pixar) involved Buzz Lightyear being recalled to Taiwan for some defect. While this new plot doesn’t exactly sound thrilling — who wants to see Woody and Buzz run around a daycare center? — it certainly sounds better than the initial plan.
It is pretty interesting that Pixar has aged the series in realtime, though, making Andy college aged. Perhaps it’s a way to try and get children who grew up with the original Toy Story interested? I can’t speak for everyone in my generation, but I do know that I would have seen this even if Andy was still the exact same age. I mean, it’s freakin’ Toy Story!
